News on Lolita and dolphins at Miami Seaquarium

For some reason Lolita has chipped teeth in the front now, it was not like that Sunday May 2nd.  I asked a trainer why that happened so quickly and the response was that she is getting old.  I have a feeling it may be an infection though.  For the last month and a half every time I went she has had a dark yellow spot under her rostrum, it has progressively been getting darker and now it is right beneath where the teeth are falling out and looking chipped. Also she doesn’t look to me like she is loosing weight but I am seeing an indent behind the blowhole which is indicative of losing weight.

Now only 3 pacific white sided dolphins are in the tank with her I asked someone where the other one went and they didn’t answer clearly.  I do have them on tape saying that 6 lags will be kept in Lolita’s tank with her within the next year if everything goes according to plan.  I will upload some parts of the show along with this little interview with an employee later and link to them on youtube.

Another disturbing thing that I encountered is that the bottlenose dolphins in the Top Deck dolphin tank all seem to have some sort of disease on the underneath base of their flukes, and one has a strange lump where it looks like an incision has occurred.  All in all it was highly disturbing.
